I'm So Far Away From Hope
Society told me the world is black and white
I didn't want to believe it
Because I want something more than a narrow minded life
I need something different
Feeling as if I was truly alone in this world
It's hard to keep believing
Feeling as if I no longer could move forward
It's difficult to keep breathing
I'm stuck between the realms of discrimination and belief
I had to lock away my tears in a prison
For I am the only one who can keep my resolve safe
But I'm such a fragile person
-
I knew I couldn't take any of it / I knew everyone is so swift with judgment
I knew I would fall to the hatred / I knew everyone's morals are blinded
-
Maybe it is meant
To be like this from beginning to end
To endure without crying
To practice the art of suffering
I wanted to find change
But I'm not strong enough for this pain
The hollowed promises won't be found
Because I was taught to despise myself
-
I was told that there was nothing here for me
I failed right from the beginning
I acted so goddamn foolishly
It's just wishful thinking
Because we have drawn an infinite line
It's either one side or the other
To choose to be a living lie
Or to be alone altogether
I have to suffer, over peace and freedom
Why does it come down to this?
To live in fear, and isolation
Why does our choice exist?
-
I've already lost / I just want to let go
It's as if I'm already gone / I'm so far away from hope
Those would be the words I would use to describe this poem. It reaches down a tendril of thought into the deepest darkest corners of ourselves, and pulls out the feelings we have a hard time recognizing. This is one of the most deep, emotional poems I have yet to read.
The diction is easy, with precise choices of words; and "goddamn" adds a little character and flavor to the persona of the poem. The stanzas are balanced well, and the voice grows stronger with each phrase; creating a visualization that is vibrant and pleasing to the reader. Your style in the visualization of the words (italics and bold) bring even greater emotion and attention to the thoughts of the author.
After reading this poem I imagined the kind of person who would write this. I believe that such people who can turn their thoughts into a living, breathing, collective piece, are absolutely beautiful. This is a poem I truly appreciate. And I believe that once others read this, they too will connect in their unique way, and they too will remember this.
Keep on writting my friend. This was a truely unique piece of art. And for that I would like to give you my symbol of respect and honor with Rue's three finger salute.
May the odds be ever in your favor.
